Biographical info
Al-Madbouh is an associate researcher and lecturer at ITT since 2016, in the fields of Environmental Sciences and Public Health with focus on Environmental Sociology. She is also a trainer in the subject of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) and has conducted several SEA training courses in Palestine, Jordan, and other MENA countries as well as Ghana and Kenya. Previously, she worked as a coordinator of different health and environmental projects implemented in Palestine by Al-Quds University, Doctors of the World (MDM)-Greece, Ramallah Municipality, the United Nation Development Program (UNDP), and the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS).
Research experience
Al-Madbouh’s research focuses on social and health perspectives associated with water, wastewater, wastewater reuse, and solid waste; governance of (waste)water and waste sectors; public participation in waste(water) management; impacts of climate change on the livelihood and well-being of farming communities; climate change adaptation strategies implemented by farming communities in the MENA region; and application of Strategic Environmental Assessment; (SEA) tools and approaches to assess environmental and social implications of national policies, plans, and programs during their development process.Some of these projects have been implemented in the framework of the Palestinian-German research collaboration profile established by Al-Madbouh at the ITT/ TH-Köln. The projects were conducted in partnership between the ITT and Palestinian universities and governmental organizations, and in coordination with a team of scholars from both countries.
